Ingrown toenails are most often present in the big toe and can cause significant pain and discomfort if left untreated. Often, a spike or serrated edge of the nail can be the cause of pain and is usually easy to treat in a clinic.

 

Treating it

There are several ways to treat ingrown toenails and each patients treatment will be based on their individual requirements following a an assessment of their feet. If your toe is showing signs of infection, such as the presence of pus, please contact your GP in the first instance.
